BIOGRAPHY

Robin Ritter is an award-winning actress, writer, producer and artist, but it has been a long and difficult road for this resilient young woman. At the age of five while crossing a neighborhood street, she was hit by a speeding drunk driver in a Mack truck, and drug for 100 yards. Robin almost lost her leg and her life. Miraculously, she recovered, but after long years of self-rehabilitation and exercise. This is what began Robin's interest in physical education along with her spirituality. In adulthood, Robin became involved with the health and nutrition business for several years, educated in holistic and natural health. Along with this, Robin had the desire to begin a career in the entertainment industry as an actress, and ironically a stunt performer. Robin's energy and giving spirituality has gained her great respect among her industry peers. As an actress, Robin has appeared in a wide variety of popular television shows, including "NYPD Blue" (1993), "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987), and The "The X Files" (1993), and movies such as David Lynch's Mulholland Dr. (2001). She co-starred in René Besson's acclaimed feature Boxes (2000), which premiered on the Independent Film Channel.

As a stunt performer, Robin has performed alongside some of the top stunt coordinators in the business, including Greg Anderson (Minority Report (2002), Con Air (1997), Casino (1995), and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997), and _Mark Steven Grove_ (3 Ninjas (1992), Mad Love (1995), and Highlander: The Adventure Begins (1994) (V). As a producer, in 1999, she was one of the first filmmakers to produce an all-digital feature film, Specter's Rock (2003). That film, in which Robin also starred, featured a cast of over sixty actors (including Michael Anderson, from "Twin Peaks" (1990) and "Carnivàle" (2003)), and required over forty locations. Despite the ambitious nature of the project, principle photography was completed on time and under budget.

Specter's Rock went on to become a featured selection at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival (where the festival's director described it as "a surreal, comedic thriller"), and it was screened at Cannes and the AFM. The editors of the online magazine Gathering Darkness included it on their list of "Must See" horror, sci-fi, and fantasy films. However, the most rewarding moment for Robin came when David Lynch, with whom Robin had previously worked on Mulholland Drive, personally chose Specter's Rock to be included as a special feature on the Season 1 DVD of Twin Peaks. Robin was a pioneer in her next effort as a producer. The Caretaker (2001) was one of the very first films to explore in-depth the serious but rarely-discussed problem of elder abuse. The Caretaker won the Gold Special Jury Award at the WorldFest Houston International Film Festival.

In this 2001 film, Robin produced, and co-starred alongside industry vets including Anne-Marie Howard ("Days of Our Lives" (1965), Shopgirl (2005), The Weather Man (2005). The high quality of The Caretaker convinced veteran composer Nicholas Pike (The Shining, Sleepwalkers, Showtime's Masters of Horror series, HBO's Baghdad ER) to create an original score for the film.

Robin Ritter has been approached to produce seven projects, four of which Robin will most likely star in. The very first one will be begin shooting in March,'08. It is a social issue concern mixed with paranormal situations.

She has written a script, "The Legend of Harbor's End", which is being seen now by Producers and Agents. She is producing another horror film, "The Reaper", from the same writer, director, of "Caesar & Otto Camp Massacre" (a film Robin just wrapped as Producer and Actress), and "Dark Chamber". ***Please see the article in Fangoria online about these upcoming features below.

She has been given two scripts to produce and star in, a western period piece feature, "Serving Up Justice", in the vein of, "Open Range". The other is a comedy pilot about a local hang out, called, "Truck Stop". Another t.v. pilot which is almost finished is about a paranormal team that time travels. Robin has been asked to co-write another horror film, "Crow's Ranch", based off The Zodiac killer's son. She has also been asked to co-write, produce and star in another t.v. pilot, "Mamma's Cafe", a story close to, "Touched by An Angel", meets The Oracle, from, "The Matrix".

Just when you thought it was safe to start planning to send the kids away once school ends this year, Camp Motion Pictures is preparing to roll its second in-house production, CAESAR AND OTTO’S SUMMER CAMP MASSACRE. This horror/comedy is written and directed by the aptly named Dave Campfield and produced by Robin Ritter. Dave Campfield, who previously scripted and helmed the serious chiller DARK CHAMBER and asks Fango, “What would happen if you threw Abbott and Costello into an over-the-top slasher film? That’s more or less the concept behind my latest production.

“I used to love watching the horror/comedy crossovers as a young kid—films like ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN—and what I’m trying to do here is a modern-day equivalent,” he further tells us. “Expect a slapstick, gore-iffic comedy. The plot involves Caesar, an effete tough guy, and his slovenly brother Otto as they become counselors at Camp Sunsmile. But the camp has some surprises in store for them.” Campfield aims to have the movie completed by next summer.

In the meantime, DARK CHAMBER (originally titled UNDER SURVEILLANCE) is set for DVD release in first quarter 2008 by POPcinema. The story begins with a young man named Justin (Eric Conley) returning to live in his father’s house after 10 years, only to find it now contains three illegal apartments housing some rather unpleasant new tenants. When the latest victim of a series of local satanic cult killings is left on his lawn, Justin starts spying on his new housemates with hidden video equipment—putting his life in danger.

“I’ve always loved horror films and thrillers—THE EXORCIST remains one of my very favorite movies—but in recent years the genre has become less about characters, story and mounting atmosphere and more about just grossing out the audience,” Campfield says. “That’s one way to go, but I just don’t find it as satisfying. What I was attempting to do with DARK CHAMBER was make a film that would grab you with its story and characters in addition to its scares—something new, instead of the same clichés we keep seeing in this genre. It has gotten some festival recognition: Best Screenplay at the Terror Film Festival, Best Dramatic Film at the Long Island Film Festival and Best Supporting Actress at Ohio’s Indie Gathering.” The disc is set to include new footage shot exclusively for the home release, plus the following extras:

• Audio commentary by Campfield
• Making-of featurettes
• Documentary about the real-life cult killing that inspired the story • Cast interviews • Outtakes

And more. You can see the movie’s official website here; we’ll bring you updates and art on CHAMBER and MASSACRE’s DVD releases in the near future. —Michael Gingold
