I have been scrambling to get my name out there for work. I have placed free ads everywhere and answered a lot of them. This morning I got a reply back for one that said they had lots of work for my profession. When I got the email I was a little skeptical because how it was presented. Here is the actual email I got:

{Hi There|Hello|Good Day|Good Morning|Hey}

{I|We have just|My partner and I have just} {looked|browsed|skimmed} over {your resume |the resume you posted |your Craigs resume posting }and {I |we }{have |may just have }a job {position|oppurtunity|opening} for you, coming up in phoenix. Please {email me back|reply back to me here|get back to me preferably here on email} {if you're interested|if this is of any interest to you|if this interests you}

{Thank You|Thanks|Warm Regards} ,
{Micheal|John|Art} {Macnamee|Forward|Brown|Sullivan|Wood|Blair|Stevenson|Knight|Bowe|
Haines}

I figured maybe because it was a Spanish name maybe they were based in Mexico. Hey, the internet makes everything international. I responded back and in a few minutes I got an email directing me to a link. The radar antenna shot up on my head, warning danger. I did click on the link which took me to a MLM site. The site swore it wasn’t that and was for real jobs, but I had to fill out a form and wait a few days to get contacted.

I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to go with it but when I tried to close the browser the system said not to go and it would connect me to a representative through chat. It also mentioned how I could get a free offer. Hmm, a free offer, so that suggests getting the jobs you’re offering I have to pay?

Needless to say I closed the browser and won’t be contacting them.

There are a lot of scam sites going on out there and I used to get people calling that had them set up on my old job. All these folks setting up MLM and not coming out and saying it. They would rather hide it, wait for you to get into it then spring it on you. It’s sad but they’re enough people out there who really believe in something for nothing or little work that they will be preyed upon by others.

With the business I’m starting I’ve done a lot more work that I would at a regular job. It’s the little things that get me. The creative part of working is fun, but there’s getting copy made up to post on different ad sites. I have to make sure to stay in contact with people to tell them the progress of their project. There’s just the tiny maintenance stuff that can take up time. Even when I want to take a break, I have a pad next to me just in case an idea comes to me I have to jot down. As a funny example, even though I will not deal with the MLM site I just went to, the layout they had was rather nice, so I have a link to their site as a reference just in case I need it for a site I design. Even when I don’t want to think work I’m thinking work.

Self employment is an ongoing job.
